YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG
DEAR EVERYBODY,

THE BAKE-TO-GET-HARD CLAY OFTEN USED TO MAKE JEWELRY AND THINGS IS CALLED SCULPEY.

SCULPTI IS A KIND OF LASER.

LET ME REPEAT THAT AGAIN.
THE WORD IS
SCULPEY
NOT
SCULPTY

FOR GOD'S SAKES I HAVE BEEN AWARE OF THIS SINCE I WAS TEN YEARS OLD. STOP BEING RETARDED.

FUCK,

TECHNO

I have similar moments when people pluralize (or possesify) names of places that should not be pluralized, like Barnes and Noble... and they say Barnes and Nobles... *shudder*, or how about one of my favorites... a different thing: "can I Axe you a question?" *murder*

do you hear this on a regular basis?

I don't think I've ever had to use this word in my life.

I hang around a lot of crafty communities, and went to an art college. I hear it a lot. :(

Umm... O_o *kicks a can*

I like when people switch the L and the U so it spells "Sclupture". lol

Also. IT'S ASTERISK, NOT ASTERIX. This one drives me nuts.

I used that stuff in one of my art classes and thankfully, no one butchered the word, even our teacher who tends to have a hard time with pronunciation on occasion. If someone DID, though, I'm pretty sure it would get annoying fast...

I wish for every time someone was offering something made of sculpty it really was made of lasers, because it would be AWESOME.

THOSE ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TYPES OF CLAY, ONE OF WHICH HAS A SEMIFIRM TEXTURE WHEN BAKED (THAT WOULD BE FIMO) AND ONE WHICH IS SOLID (THAT WOULD BE SCULPEY)

in my experience fimo bakes to complete hardness... i've never noticed any 'semifirmness' :P

I don't know why I commit these things to memory

Nope, Sculpey bakes harder. They're different polymers, chemically, with the one in sculpey being the more solid of the two. Also, sculpey contains more oil, which bakes out, leaving the final product overall much firmer.
